Ever woke up with the unsatisfied feeling that you are stuck where you’re at, and you just don’t have the power or resource to leave or move forward. When speaking to my co-workers, friends, and family members they too seem to have the same reoccurring feeling. As a loving sister telling you this, it may not be that your job is boring or lacking maybe it’s you? You’ve work hard, you’re burnt out, and you've lost your motivation. Here are three ways to quickly remove those feelings:
Motivate Yourself
The best way to start motivating yourself is by knowing what your goal is. You should know yourself better than anyone else, so then you know what your finish line will look like. If you are unsure about your future, start writing down things that make you happy and relaxed. After you've mapped out how you want the finish line to look like, take steps that will lead you to it. First, remove self-doubt from you mind; to do that you have to know where you want to go. Refuse to allow yourself to focus on the past. I’m not going to lie to you and say you’re not going to run into obstacles and distractions, but once you know the end goal it makes it easier to manage the unexpected. Remind yourself of why you’re in this and keep moving forward.
Focus on Your strength
We've been taught to zero in our weaknesses and flaws for so long that one of the most difficult things to do is find our strengths. I find that in most interviews when asked “ What are your strengths” we seem to fumble through it. Re-frame you mind to start seeing the positive attributes and skills you bring to the table. Then present it by your behavior and choices. To know your strength is to do what comes naturally to you. What do you get complimented on?, what are the habit that you do that makes people think your crazy?, what's your weird? Be aware of your weaknesses but don’t focus on them. We sometimes run ourselves ragged when we try to do everything. Relinquish control of perfection and strive for excellence. You'll be surprise at what you can accomplish and how creative you can be when you focus on your best qualities.
Keep Yourself Calm
Take a deep breath. Sometimes we are just overwhelmed and bombarded with the many tasks we must balance. Control your thoughts and you mind. A great method to calm your mind is taking longer and deeper breaths. You may not be able to control the situation for the time being but you can control how you react to it. Obstacles will come your way no matter how prepared you are but the best preparation technique is to first not panic. Think of ways to keep yourself calm and grounded. Whether it's with an irate customer, disgruntled employee, or toxic manager, controlling your thoughts and reactions is the best way to control the situation.
Confidence is a mindset. It is a muscle you have to exercise regularly. Not allowing yourself to remain complacent or relinquishing control to something or someone. At work we may sometimes get overwhelmed, impatient, and irritated that creates roadblocks in our path. These roadblocks separate us from our goals, visions, and aspirations. Take steps to improve your confidence to move forward.
